Collection: ELECTRO-OPTICS

We provide optics and electro-optical design and support for electronics companies, and electronics for optics companies.  It helps to speak both languages.

Almost all optical systems require some electronics, either to emit light, gather data from a sensor or a combination of the two.  Many optical systems require motion control to achieve and maintain focus.  Others create images for machine vision, inspection, or surveillance.

One recent fun project involved a remote fiber-optic temperature sensor.  This system uses a technique called non-linear Raman spectroscopy to measure the energy states of the atoms within the fiber.  By launching a pulse of light and sampling the weak back-scatter signal we can detect the temperature at each segment along the entire length of the fiber.

We have also teamed up with several optical design and manufacturing companies to provide motorized control for precision lens element positioning.  This motion can provide automatic zoom, focus, and temperature compensation.  And it does so with much greater precision than can be achieved with traditional machined splines.

We are experts in low-light level and high-speed detection.  From photon counting to GHz bandwidths we have seen it all.  Not really, but figuratively.

Call us with your project needs.  We are happy to discuss solutions.
